Center for Collaboration and Commercialization (C3) Touch Screen Application

TOUCHSCREEN APPLICATION

Collaborated with business development staff and Ideum programmers to develop a modern, engaging, memorable multi-touch museum grade exhibit located at Sandia’s C3 office in the Lobo Rainforest Building. The space is modeled after the rainforest– a human ecosystem is like a rainforest in which human creativity, business acumen, scientific discovery, investment capital, and other elements come together in a special recipe that nurtures budding ideas.

The unique touch screen application highlights C3s program and services; Sandia’s user facilities/map, interactive 3D tours; various partnership mechanisms; recent success stories, R&D100 awards; and access to Sandia’s IP library, visual patent search, and Lab Expertise. This new tool will enable staff 1) to quickly tell the Sandia story 2) engage visitors in new an interesting ways and 3) showcase the people, facilities, and IP that many people do not have access to without visiting the lab.

Energy & Climate Mission

at Sandia National Laboratories

CHALLENGE

The Energy and Climate mission is dedicated to enhancing the nation’s security and prosperity through sustainable transformative approaches to energy challenges. When the new mission was created they required significant communications support to establish its brand.

APPROACH

As the communications project lead I developed and implemented an effective communication plan that raised awareness and understanding of the mission space, communicated the value proposition to all stakeholders, engaged employees and built support for the mission.

RESULTS

  • Implemented the Digital Communications Strategy.

  • Developed Secure & Sustainable Energy Future Mission Area Strategy in collaboration with executive leadership.

  • Developed the energy.sandia.gov (new redesigned) external website.

  • Developed Social media strategy and implemented @SandiaEnergy Twitter account to engage with customers, and established online accounts for Slideshare, Eventbrite, and Vimeo Channel.

  • Rolled out GovDelivery newsletter tool for all sub programs and increased subscribers from 300 to 80K in 4 years.

  • Deployed iPad application for government relations staff to communicate with key stakeholders.

  • Measured progress against strategy by tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and return on investment (ROI) for all strategic communications initiatives and provided monthly reports to the leadership team.

Student Intern Videos

In collaboration with videographers and editors we developed a series of student highlight videos which focus on nine student interns from key academic alliance institutions (GT, UNM, UT, Illinois, and Purdue) all conducting key research at the laboratory. Collaborating with our video services department I led the project from concept to completion by selecting students, conducting pre-interviews, creating questionnaires, reviewing scripts, and editing of the final product.
